# Cross-chain trading

You can buy a listed token while paying with an asset that lives on a different chain, for example pay with BNB to buy a token that lives on Base. You pick what you pay with, ZeroTick handles the cross-chain part for you, and the token arrives in your wallet on its own chain.

#### Buy across chains

A cross-chain trade starts like any other trade. The only difference is the pay asset you choose: pick one on a different chain than the token, and ZeroTick trades across chains for you.

**Open the token's trade page**

Open the token you want to buy from the Marketplace, Discover, or Search. The chart fills the left of the page and the trade panel sits on the right. Leave the side on **Buy**.

**Choose what you pay with**

At the top of the trade panel, open the **Buy with** selector. Native coins (such as SOL, ETH, and BNB) sit at the top, and stablecoins (USDC and USDT) sit below a **Stablecoins** divider. Pick an asset whose chain is different from the token's chain. Choosing a pay asset on another chain is what turns this into a cross-chain trade.

**Enter an amount and review the estimate**

Type how much to spend, or press a quick amount button. A summary appears above the trade button: **You receive** (the estimated tokens), **Min. received** (the least you accept after slippage), and **Estimated fees**. Expand **Estimated fees** to see the full breakdown. The fees are shown here before you confirm, so nothing is charged that you have not already seen. Slippage comes from your active execution preset; see [Execution presets](https://zerotick-trade.gitbook.io/documentation.v1.1/user-guides/execution-presets).

**Place the trade and approve it**

Press the trade button. It reads exactly what will happen, for example **Buy \~120K TOKEN for $50**. Approve the trade when your wallet asks you to. The button then shows **Processing...** while the trade runs.

**Wait for the trade to complete**

A cross-chain trade takes a little longer than a same-chain one, often a minute or two depending on the chains and how busy they are. You can leave the page while it settles; if it runs long, a **Trade submitted** toast means the trade is still processing and will finish on its own.

A **Trade complete** toast confirms the result, for example "Bought TOKEN on Base", and the token appears in your wallet on its chain.

<summary>What if my pair is not available yet?</summary>

In V0, the most reliable cross-chain path is paying with a native coin (for example ETH or BNB) to buy a token on another EVM chain. If a particular combination is not supported yet, the trade button returns a **Trade unavailable** toast reading "Cross-chain buys aren't available for this pair yet." Pick a different pay asset, a native coin on another chain is the surest, and try again. More pairs and pay assets arrive over time.

<summary>How long does a cross-chain trade take?</summary>

Longer than a same-chain trade, usually a minute or two, and sometimes more when a chain is congested. The trade runs in the background, so you can browse other pages and still get the **Trade complete** toast when it lands.

<summary>Can I sell for an asset on another chain?</summary>

Yes. Switch the panel to **Sell** and the selector becomes **Sell for**. Pick the asset and chain you want your proceeds in. If that chain is different from the token's chain, ZeroTick sells the token and delivers the proceeds to your wallet on that chain, with a **Trade complete** toast when they arrive. As with buying, some pairs are not available yet and show a **Trade unavailable** toast.
