# Cross-Chain Trading

Cross-chain trading lets you buy a token that lives on one chain while paying with an asset held on another. You pick what you pay with, ZeroTick settles the cross-chain part for you, and the token lands in your own wallet on the token's chain. Moving funds between chains yourself is slow and error-prone, so ZeroTick folds the whole thing into a single trade.

### What makes a trade cross-chain

You hold one wallet with an address on each supported chain. At the top of the trade panel, the **Buy with** selector (or **Sell for** when you are selling) sets which asset you pay with. It lists native coins such as SOL, ETH, BNB, and MONAD, with stablecoins below a **Stablecoins** divider.

A trade becomes cross-chain the moment the pay asset sits on a different chain than the token. You pay from your wallet's balance on the pay asset's chain, and the token you buy arrives at the same wallet's address on the token's chain. When the pay asset and the token share a chain, it stays an ordinary same-chain trade.

### How a cross-chain trade runs

There is no separate quote screen to accept. A cross-chain trade uses the same trade panel as any other trade:

* You enter an amount and see the usual estimate above the trade button: **You receive**, the **Exchange rate**, **Min. received** (the least you accept after slippage), and **Estimated fees**, which expands to the full breakdown. Fees are shown before you confirm.
* You press the trade button, which reads exactly what will happen, for example **Buy \~120K TOKEN for $50**, and you approve it once when your wallet asks.
* ZeroTick then fetches a live quote, prepares the trade, signs it, submits it, and settles it across chains in one action. The button shows **Processing...** while it runs.

Because it settles across two networks, a cross-chain trade takes a little longer than a same-chain one, usually a minute or two and sometimes more when a chain is busy. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page and it finishes on its own.

ZeroTick reports progress in plain language. You get a **Trade submitted** status while it processes, then **Trade complete** with a short line such as "Bought TOKEN on Base" once the token lands. It never surfaces the service behind the cross-chain step.

### Where your funds go

The token is delivered to your own wallet on the destination chain. ZeroTick derives the destination from your account, so the trade cannot be pointed at anyone else, and your funds stay in your wallet the whole way through. You never hand them to a separate site or tool.

### Which pairs work today

In V0, the surest cross-chain trade pays with a native coin on an EVM chain, for example ETH or BNB, to buy a token that lives on a different EVM chain. Paying with SOL is for trading Solana tokens on their own chain, not for paying across chains yet.

If a combination is not supported yet, the trade button returns a **Trade unavailable** message that reads "Cross-chain buys aren't available for this pair yet." Pick a different pay asset, a native coin on another EVM chain is the surest, and try again. Support for more pairs and pay assets grows over time.

### Common questions

<summary>Can I sell for an asset on another chain?</summary>

Yes. Switch the panel to **Sell** and the selector becomes **Sell for**. Pick the asset and chain you want your proceeds in. If that chain differs from the token's chain, ZeroTick sells the token and delivers the proceeds to your wallet on the chain you chose, with a **Trade complete** status when they arrive. As with buying, some pairs are not available yet and return a **Trade unavailable** message.

<summary>Why does a cross-chain trade take longer than a normal one?</summary>

It settles across two separate networks rather than one, which takes more time. Delivery is usually a minute or two, and longer when a chain is congested. The trade runs in the background, so you can browse other pages and still get the **Trade complete** status when it lands.

<summary>Do I need to accept a quote before it runs?</summary>

No. The estimate you see above the trade button is the whole preview. When you press the button and approve the trade, ZeroTick fetches a live quote and runs the trade in one action. There is no second screen and no separate quote to accept.

The trade button returns a **Trade unavailable** message reading "Cross-chain buys aren't available for this pair yet." The most reliable cross-chain path today pays with a native coin (such as ETH or BNB) to buy a token on another EVM chain. Choose one of those and try again.
